These rare, unique handcrafted wall shadow boxes add an authentic and rustic character to any room. Handmade from 100% reclaimed Kentucky bourbon barrels, they are minimally finished to keep the natural, rustic look of the wood. Care has been taken in the artisan craftsman ship to ensure any outer banding rings of the barrel are kept in tact, as well as preserving the inner char of the original bourbon barrel. Each piece of wood has a story to tell. Starting 20 years ago as a virgin oak sapling in the Ozark foothills; harvested and sent to the cooperage makers in Kentucky for construction into a bourbon barrel; charred for 50 seconds to create the natural fiber interaction with the alcohol; filled with clear mash; and set atop a rick house in Kentucky, exposed go gentle winds and fluctuations in temperature for the 2-5 years, ensuring a gentle interaction of the mash with the charred fibers to produce our great American Bourbons. Soon after the barrel is de-bunged and the caramel colored Bourbon is emptied for filtering and bottling, our artisans take the reclaimed bourbon barrels from the distillery and break down the barrels by removing the tops and rings. The bourbon barrel staves are then sanded, mitred, joined, and a coat of poly is applied ensuring the lifelong integrity off the wood. Our handcrafted process takes care to preserve the natural markings of the staves. These authentic handcrafted bourbon barrel shadow boxes are perfect for wall mounting of plants, collectibles, whiskey's, glasses, pictures, or other items. The dimensions listed are based on the outside of the piece. The inside dimensions are approximately 2 inches less than the outside measurement. The depth of each box is 3".
