Decanter Magazine Review
Top five 2015 California Cabernets
Rated 96
A fragrant but savoury bouquet of perfumed blackberry, rich earth, fennel seed and cigar tobacco leads to a wine with lovely cut, vibrancy and concentration, structured around firm but refined 2015 tannins. Christopher Howell deserves more recognition for the amazing consistency, longevity and sophistication that his wines from this striking Spring Mountain site routinely achieve, as anyone with Cain bottlings in their cellar from the 1980s and 1990s can attest.

James Suckling Review
Rated 96

Aromas of sweet tobacco, chocolate and currants. Wet earth and forest floor. Heads into blueberry territory. Very aromatic. Full body, silky tannins and bright acidity. Changes to blackberries towards the end. Tight and bright. Shows balance and structure. Available in 2019. Try it then.

All you really need to know is that the Cain Five came from the Cain Vineyard: estate grown - estate bottled - harvested and vinified in 2015. If you know anything about this wine, you'll know that it is a Cabernet Blend of five varieties (hence, Cain Five), but the most important thing is that it grew in just one place: the Cain Vineyard. Five Varieties - One Vineyard. Simple. The 2015 Cain Five is a generous, dense, focused wine, with the sun-drenched herbal and savory notes of our wild mountain Cain Vineyard, and satisfying and mouth-filling on the palate. The 2015 Cain Five drinks beautifully today, and will continue to do so for twenty years.
