Shrub is an alcoholic cordial that was made back in the days of rum smuggling. When salty sea water somehow found its way into the tasty rum, shrub was used to mask the brine flavours. While you're not going to find any rum and sea water cocktails these days, shrub still makes a mighty fine accompaniment to the spirit.
