WhistlePig - Double Malt Rye Whiskey 18 year old Whiskey 75CL
WhistlePig - Double Malt Rye Whiskey 18 year old Whiskey 75CL 11582-od
$879.82 price per bottle
Whistlepig's oldest ever Rye Whiskey! The WhistlePig 18 Year uses 79% Rye, 15% Malted Rye and 6% Malted Barley, distilled at Hiram Walker in Canada. A Limited release of 10000 bottles. Presented in a bespoke decanter, hand bottled at the WhistlePig farm. The decanters are topped with hand pressed glass stoppers, pressed by a 19th century glass pressing machine, one of the last of its kind, and custom made. This rare release is the result of a long-awaited experiment into how grain affects flavour early in the whiskey-making process, in particular, the bygone practice of malting rye. The Double Malt mash bill innovates on a traditional practice of malting a small portion of the rye harvest, as done by farmer distillers before industrial whiskey-making processes were established. Light and fruity with notes of red apple, lemongrass and spice on the nose. The palate is light and creamy with nutmeg, baking spice and herbal menthol coming through later. Warming and oaky on the finish. Complex, harmonious and very well balanced.
